Maxwell Boateng is currently a Member of the Management Team of Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA), Principal Geologist and Head of Geological Data and Information Management.
Maxwell has been an active member of the Ghana Institution of Geoscientists (MGhIG-243) since the year 2000 and active participant in the activities of the Ghana Institution of Geoscientists.
He played a major role in increasing the Membership of the Ghana Institution of Geoscientists.
He always solves the challenges of Geoscientists in the field and the office. He always trains, inspires and motivates other Geoscientists in the Country. An enthusiastic team lead with analytical and problem-solving skills.
Maxwell Boateng is an excellent behind the scene negotiator and a dependable, broker, who completes task on time, and has a positive attitude to work that shows a high level of integrity.
Maxwell Boateng joined the then Geological Survey Department as an Assistant Geologist in 1998. By dint of hard work, commitment, and high integrity, he rose through the ranks to Geologist (the year 2002), Senior Geologist (the year 2007), Principal Geologist (the year 2013), and Head of Geological Data and Information Management (the year 2014). He has been working at the Geological Survey for the past twenty-three (23) years.
He has accomplished over twenty-five projects Countrywide such as Kaolin investigation in the Western Region, Clay Investigation in the Kwahu-West Municipality in the Eastern Region, Jasper Investigation in the Oti Region, Geological Investigations and Seismic Refraction Surveys for construction of Power Plants, Environmental and Engineering Geology for Urban Planning in the Accra-Tema Metropolitan Area (Ghana-Germany Technical Cooperation Project), etc.
The Ghana Government and the Chinese Government awarded scholarship to Maxwell Boateng to pursue a Master’s Degree in Geology in China in the year 2003. He holds a Master’s degree in Geology, B.Sc. (Hons) Geology from the University of Ghana and Certificate in Project Planning and Management- MDPI. He also possesses certificates in Mineral Exploration, Exploration Targeting, QGIS, Research Management, Program Base Budgeting, Mine Closure, Satellite Image Processing, Executive Leadership and Management and many others.
In August 2021, Maxwell Boateng received the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award from the Ghana Civil Service in Honor of His Exemplary Leadership and Diligence to Teamwork.
Maxwell has participated in many local and International Conferences and Programs such as MINING INDABA, WAXI, AMIRA, CIRDI, IAEA, Africa Geological Survey, etc.
He serves on several committees in the Country such as Ghana Gold Museum Committee, Ghana Environment Information Network Steering Committee, Anticorruption Committee in the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and Research and Statistics Committee in the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
In Ghana Geological Survey Authority, Maxwell Boateng serves on committees such as Budget Committee, Risk Management Committee, Entity Tender Committee, GGSA Legislative Instrument Committee and Chairman of Board of Survey and others.
He is the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Chairman of Wanaki International School. He is also Men’s Fellowship President at a Church.
He is Perscoba and an active member of Saint Peter’s secondary school year group.
Maxwell’s vision is to play effective role as the Vice President (Public Service) with the President and the other Executives to make Ghana Institution of Geoscientists to become a world class Professional Association. This will be achieved through the following targeted objectives:
- To ensure that all Geoscientists in the Public Service, Industry, and Academia are active members of the Ghana Institution of Geoscientists (GhIG)
- To Ensure that GhIG plays an active role in national issues
- To conduct continuous professional development programs for its members
- To promote the general interests of the members of the Geoscience Profession
- To represent the interest of the institution of Geoscientists in the National and International Forums
- To engage the Government and the general public to benefit from the knowledge and skills of the Ghana Institution of Geoscientists.
- To ensure the commencement of the Ghana Institution of Geoscientists Office Complex.
- To ensure that the various Acts and Legislative Instrument are in place.
