GHIG – CALL FOR NOMINATION

The Election Committee (EC) of the Ghana Institute of Geoscientists (GhIG), per its Bye-Laws Clause 19 section 1 to 19, wishes to inform all members that nominations are officially open for the upcoming General Elections, November 2025. Notice of Poll will be posted in due course. Subsequent to this notice, members in good standing are invited to submit nominations for eligible members (also in good standing) for the following executive positions and sector chairpersons:

  1. President
  2. Vice-President (Academic)
  3. Vice-President (Industry)
  4. Vice-President (Public Service)
  5. General Secretary
  6. Treasurer
  7. Public Relations Officer (P.R.O)
  8. Website Officer
  9. Chairpersons of Regional Branches:
  1. Northern Sector [UWR, UER, NE, NR, & SAVR] •
  2. Middle Sector [BR, BER, AHAFR & ASHR] •
  3. South Western Sector [WNR, WR & CR] •
  4. South Eastern Sector [GAR, ER VR & OR]

Calendar:

  1. Nomination Period:START: Mon, 29th Sept. 2025, END:            Sun, 19th Oct. 2025.
  2. Compilation of nominations: 20th – 25th Oct. 2025
  3. Screening of nominees by the Council: 27th – 28th Oct. 2025.
  4. Notice of Election (candidates for various positions): 29th Oct. – 27th Nov. 2025
  5. Voting Day: 28th Nov. 2025
  6. Declaration of result: 28th of Nov. 2021
  7. Mode of Voting: Electronic

All nominations should be submitted through the designated channels as instructed by the EC. Members are encouraged to actively participate in this democratic process to ensure that a strong leadership team for the Institution are elected for the 2026/2028 tenure of office.

Mine and Exploration Geologist. I have a rich experience working within the Ashanti Gold Belt in Ghana. I have led and supervised several green field exploration programme within Denkyira and Wassa districts leading to the discoveries of many gold desposits in the environs. My experience runs through exploration, grade control, ROM pad management, mapping, GIS applications, geophysics, mine geotechnics and auditing drill sites/rigs. Possesses general understanding of drilling techniques and equipment, geochemistry application in exploration, sound understanding of mining operations, milling and maintenance operations. Experienced with mining related software (especially Acquire GIM, Leapfrog, Surpac and Datamine suits)
