GhIG’s new Advocacy Framework
Supported by the GhIG Board’s Policy and Advocacy Committee, the GhIG looks forward to undertaking an active program of advocacy in areas affecting our members and the communities in which they work. As professionals working across government, industry and academia, GhIG members recognise that applying and continually improving professional practice in the minerals sector delivers the safest, most productive and sustainable outcomes for society as a whole. With no sectional interest, GhIG members are uniquely positioned to provide insight into policy settings based on their technical knowledge and operational experience.
The GhIG’s Advocacy Framework is primarily intended as a guide for all GhIG members about their important role as minerals professionals advocating for the highest standards of professional excellence in the minerals sector. It is also a valuable guide for all stakeholders in the minerals sector that sets out the important role that minerals professionals play in our communities.
The guide explains what advocacy is, why we do it, and explains our priority areas of focus. It is not an exhaustive list of every policy or advocacy issue affecting members. Instead it sets a high level framework under which all members can actively and confidently be engaged as effective advocates.
